Vern Powell & Matt Lybeck will be forging draft horse shoes and applying them to the horse. They will also offer some hands on instruction for anyone interested.

Lee Sackett & Don Tritz will be shoeing a Western Pleasure type horse and also offer hands on for those of you that request it.

Red Renchin will be demonstrating the glue on shoe process.

On February 16, we will meet at Centaur Forge for our monthly meeting starting at 8:30 a.m. We will offer forging practice for everyday shoeing, as well as for certification.

We will have this meeting at Lyle Stoner's, beginning at 8:30 a.m., on January 12 (snow date would be January 19).

We'll meet at Centaur Forge, have our meeting, and then go out to dinner.

What perfect timing, we came to the Feb. 17th, practice session and UMHA meeting and were pleasantly surprised that Bill O’Neil was demonstrating how to make a pritchel and hoof gouge. We had just stopped at Centaur on our way to the meeting and bought steel to make a pritchel. Lyle Stoner hosted at his shop where members were able to utilize his coal forge and equipment. Bill donated several pieces of round tool steel for members to practice making their own tools.

 

Thanks Bill, the session was very informative, we left with some great tips.

Elections were held on January 13 and Bill O'Neill was elected as president and Mary Nelson as Treasurer once again. We welcome Ken Remer to the board of directors, replacing Rick Oettinger, who we would like to thank for his help the past two years.
